Please join us for the 6th Annual Appalachian Regional Conference (ARC 2022) on Thursday April 28, 2022 at Bella Sera. 

We are excited to offer this event in person!  If unable or uncomfortable to attend in person, registered participants will also gain access to the presentations via download for a limited time post-event.

Continuing Education Units (CDUs) and Professional Development Hours (PDHs) will be offered to participants, if requested.  Simply email us post-conference detailing which sessions you attended, and a certificate will be provided.

Josh Martincic - Chief Sustainability Officer and Vice President of Development, Long Ridge Energy

  • BIO: Mr. Martincic serves as Chief Sustainability Officer and Vice President of Development at Long Ridge Energy Terminal who is owned by Fortress Transportation and Infrastructure and GCM Grosvenor.  The Long Ridge team is developing a 1600-acre property in Hannibal Ohio and is constructing a 485-Megawatt combined cycle power plant designed to deliver exceptionally low power costs to our industrial and commercial users. 

    Over his 30-year career, Mr. Martincic was employed at Antero Resources, Halliburton, and General Electric in Pittsburgh, PA where was exposed to the safety culture, operational excellence, and the process-oriented mindset of a major industrial operations for oil and gas, Steel, Aluminum, Power, Chemical, Glass, and Oil Refineries. ​

    Mr. Martincic is a long time Pittsburgh resident and a graduate of University of Pittsburgh with a degree in chemical engineering.  He resides in Pittsburgh, PA.

 

Joe Baran - Principal and Managing Member, Bertison-George, LLC

  • BIO:  ​Joe Baran has over twenty-four years experience in many aspects of the energy industry. These efforts include the development of financial and operational assessments of investment opportunities, valuations, market forecasts, risk management strategies for several commodities, strategic purchasing strategies, and process redesign.

    Joe started Bertison-George (B-G) after working for a regional mining and geological firm for four years. B-G performs natural gas valuations, investment due diligence, and market forecasting. Previously, he worked at PPG Industries, Inc. (PPG) and was responsible for the development of energy and precious metals purchasing and risk management strategies for approximately 50 facilities across North America. Prior to PPG, Joe worked for utilities, consulting firms and The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Recent presentations/publications include Oilfield Technology “Joe Baran, guides us through global shale gas development” Volume 5 Issue 1 (2012); presenter at several national conferences such as “Shale Play Development - Long-term Trends? Impact On the Power Industry?,” EMLF Winter Workshop, and co-presenter of “Natural Gas In A Snapshot,” Simmons and Company International Las Vegas Program.

    Joe has provided expert witness testimony on several Federal Energy Regulatory Commission rate cases and has been retained as an expert witness in several cases in the Marcellus/Utica region.

    Joe has an MBA in International Business, University of Pittsburgh and a B.S. in Accounting from The Pennsylvania State University.

 

Frank King - Director, RNG Business Development, UGI Energy Services

  • BIO:  Francis H. King is Director, RNG Business Development for UGI Energy Services, LLC. Responsible for sourcing, identifying and delivering opportunities to create and enhance the profitability of UGI Energy Services’ RNG business, as well as to conduct activities that will potentially grow the business into new geographies and product lines. Prior to joining UGI Energy Services’ in 2020, Frank spent 15 years working in various management roles for the Williams Companies and EQT Corporation, serving most recently as Manager, Commercial Development for Williams Ohio River Supply Hub. He earned an undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA from the John F. Donahue Graduate School of Business at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.

 

Tom Seng - Director of School of Energy Economics, Policy and Commerce, University of Tulsa

  • BIO:  In addition to his instructional duties as Mervin Bovaird Professor of Energy Business, Mr. Seng serves as Director of the School of Energy Economics, Policy and Commerce, with primary responsibilities for coordinating undergraduate and, graduate, programs. He has more than 30 years of experience in the oil & gas industry, primarily in the midstream sector, and 14 years of experience as an adjunct instructor for various universities. His primary expertise lies in the areas of energy markets and commodities trading, but he is well versed in industry aspects of supply chain and logistics, particularly as they apply to the midstream oil and gas sector and the power sector. Prior to joining The University of Tulsa, Mr. Seng served as Manager of Product Marketing for Superior Pipeline, Senior Director for Market Development at Atlas Pipeline Mid-Continent, Senior Director for Commercial Operations at Ozark Gas Transmission Company, West Region Director and Director of Risk Services at ONEOK Energy Services, and Midcontinent Manager at PanEnergy Trading.

 

John Guoynes - Vice President, Business Development, E3 Energy Services

  • BIO:  John Guoynes is Vice President of Business Development for E3 Energy Services, a compression and midstream service provider. John has over 30 years of experience in Appalachia oil & gas including Director of Production at Rice Energy and Engineering Manager for CNX Gas. He has experience in the upstream and midstream sectors of unconventional and conventional plays including production, midstream, facilities, reservoir, CBM, gas storage and enhanced oil recovery. He is currently involved with developing new technology for oil, natural gas and NGL’s including new and practical solutions for lowering our carbon footprint. John is a graduate Petroleum Engineer from Oklahoma State University with an MBA, has authored numerous publications and served on Oil & Gas committees including a previous appointment to a State Oil & Gas Regulatory Board.

 

Edward Lush - Head of Energy Transitions, Project Canary

  • BIO: Edward Lush is a Head of Energy Transitions, responsible for midstream strategy, business development, and revenue growth. Before joining our team, Edward worked for MarkWest Energy Partners, LP, a publicly-traded midstream natural gas company, and then for MPLX, L.P., a subsidiary of Marathon Petroleum Corporation, following MPLX’s acquisition of MarkWest. During his time at MPLX, Edward held various commercial roles and most recently led business development efforts for all of MPLX’s gathering, processing, and fractionation assets in the Marcellus and Utica shales. Edward holds a J.D. from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis and an M.A. in Geography and International Relations from the University of St. Andrews in the United Kingdom.
