PURPOSE
Appalachian Basin GPA Midstream Chapter provides scholarships each year to help support students of local universities that are sincerely interested in the Midstream Industry. These scholarships are granted to further potential and possibility for the future of gas processing. Funding for each year’s recipients is made possible by company sponsorships, donations, and fundraisers such as our annual golf tournament and sporting clay event. The scholarship program targets Engineering and Technical School students with a sincere interest in Midstream careers.
COMMITTEE COMPOSITION
The committee is comprised of a Director and a minimum of two chair positions.
COMMITTEE OBJECTIVES
ABGPA’s dedicated Scholarship Committee’s primary purpose is to:
- Raise student awareness of ABGPA Scholarship Program on respective campuses.
- Raise awareness of the gas processing industry awareness in the engineering faculty & student populations at schools.
- Provide secondary benefits, such as networking between GPA members, etc.
- Solicit student applications for scholarship award consideration
- Review applications and essays while providing a candidate recommendation list to the Board.
- Candidates will be awarded scholarships based on criteria including, but not limited to, quality of application, industry involvement, declared major, experience, GPA, etc.
- Inform successful candidates of the award and invite them to the ABGPA Regional Conference for recognition
- Scholarship checks will be sent directly to the student’s registered University before the following semester
COMMITTEE SCHEDULE
The Scholarship Committee meets as necessary and may arrange their meetings in concert with the regularly scheduled director’s meetings. The general schedule for affecting the Scholarship Committee is as follows:
October: Send letters requesting candidates to apply. Application period opens.
February: Application deadline is February 14th, 2025.
March: Review applications, submit recommendations for board approval of recipients, notify recipients of award.
April: Scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to attend Appalachian Regional Conference for award recognition and networking on April 30th, 2025, in Canonsburg, Pa.

SUBMISSION SCHEDULE/REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- Student must demonstrate a strong interest in joining the oil & natural gas midstream
industry. - Student must currently be enrolled full time (at least 12 credit hours) at a partner school or
school within the Appalachian region and have completed at least 30 credit hours toward a
four-year undergraduate degree program or completed one semester in a two-year technical
degree program related to the Oil and Gas field such as Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil
or Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Land Law, etcetera. Students
attending schools outside the Appalachian region are eligible only if sponsored by an active
member of ABGPA Midstream. - Current ABGPA Midstream members must be in good standing and have held a membership for at least one year prior to applying. Membership not required to apply.
- Applicants sponsored by an active ABGPA Midstream member must be related to the member
as child, stepchild, grandchild, sibling, spouse, or niece/nephew. - Student must possess a grade point average of 2.8 or greater on a 4.0 scale. Verification of
GPA may be requested by the Scholarship Committee. - Student must be a U.S. Citizen.
Scholarship applications must be emailed to scholarship@abgpa.org before midnight February 14th, 2025. Simply click the application link and save the fillable PDF to your computer before completing it. Then attach the completed application to your email. Reference letters must be emailed directly from the reference to the email address above. The ABGPA Midstream Scholarship Committee will review the applications and award in March 2025.
